Interaction in second language acquisition is the most important thing for L2. Specially, in order to solve ongoing communication difficulties, the native speaker-non native speaker pairs were much more likly to make use of conversational tactics such as repetition, confirmation checks, comprehension checks or clarification requests. The research teams apeal to ideas of noticing, conciousness-raising, attention, etc.
If theses two conditions meet in L2 teaching and learning field, we don not need to go abroad to learn target language. Interaction and comprehension need to be implemented in teaching and learning for improvement of students.
Hi, finally , This is our final discussion. I was really happy to be this group, You all did good job:)
ReplyDelete1. Specifically, What were the native speaker and non-native speaker pairs much more likely to make use of conversational tactics to solve ongoing communication difficulties?
2. In Long’s ‘interaction hypothesis’, what does he showed between the talk produced by native speaker-native speaker and native speaker-non-native speaker pairs
3. In Long’s Steps 2 and 3, what did he challenge researchers to do?
Discussion:
What did you learn from Long’s research? Talk freely.

ReplyDelete-Empirical: derived from experiment and observation rather than theory
-clarification:an interpretation that removes obstacles to understanding
-interaction:a mutual or reciprocal action; interacting
-interlocutor: the performer in the middle of a minstrel line who engages the others in talk
Comprehension Question
ReplyDelete1. They negotiate meaning by using repetition, confirmation check, comprehension checks, and clarification requests.
2. His hypothesis shows that interactions between learners can affect their understanding and comprehension.
3. After giving the instruction, researchers allow one group interact each other, and don't allow the other group interact or talk anything.
Discussion.
- I learned that interaction between not only teacher and learners but also learners is important for their understanding. Therefore, as a English teacher, to make students interact each other will be helpful to improve students' proficiency.

ReplyDeleteAs we know through Long's hypothesis, interaction to negotiate meaning help language comprehension. Especially, they can solve the task through many interaction even if there is not any help for them. I think that TBI is based on this theory, because they should interact each other naturally for solving task. Also, we can use GW, PW for students. In conclusion, as a English teacher, we should make environment for interacting and make students take part in the interaction as well.
