1. What are the two kinds of regulation?
ReplyDeleteOne of the regulation is self-regulation which is the children who skilled can learn new things without others’ help. Other-regulation is that children can learn new things through tasks, activities, or others’ help.
2. What does the Zone of Proximal Development mean?
It is the field of knowledge or skill where the learner cannot deal with linguistic difficulties independently, and can achieve the outcome with others’ help.
3. What is the relationship between private speech and inner speech?
Most of 3~5year children talk to themselves not to when they have some difficult problem other during playing. This is private speech and this process is for thinking about their behavior and control it, not for communicating with others. And this private speech become the inner speech which is proceed internally, not speaking.

* How can a teacher apply socio-cultural theory to second language learning?
I think teachers can provide a lot of good materials, activities and environment to students for leaning. Interaction plays the role of learning language, so the teachers encourage students to participate in learning and communicate with others. Also teacher can assist them when they have trouble in solving problems.
1. What are the two kinds of regulation?
ReplyDeleteThe first one is self-regulation which means a learner acquired knowledge or skills already to do something themselves. The second one is other-regulation which means a learner does not acquired or learned before so, they learn through a task under superviser.
2. What does the Zone of Proximal Development mean?
The Zone of Proximal Development means there is an area that has difficulty that learners acquire skills or knowledge getting through by them, but can achieve the desired outcome with others’ help.
3. What is the relationship between private speech and inner speech?
Young children talk to themselves when they are doing something which shows their growing ability to regulate their own behaviors. After they get older private speech becomes inner speech which use language to organize internal thought without speak out.

* How can a teacher apply socio-cultural theory to second language learning?
If we think language is seen as socially mediated, interaction and sharing ideas are most important so, we should provide more tasks to understand better and give students chance to interact with others by GW or PW. Furthermore, according to the Zone of Proximal Development thesis, a learner need help to get through certain area to improve their skill. So, as a teacher, we need give them a modeling and assistant to acquire skills.

Proximal - situated nearer to the center of the body or the point of attachment.

T can desire some collaborative activity to use language as a tool for making meaning. And T needs to interact classroom to acquire language with many skills.
