Hi. This is Sunny Bae. I am the DL of this week.
Here are some questions.
Comprehention questions
1. How do emotions play an important role in the thinking process and how can teacher make a positive learning climate?
2. What is the representational system?
3. In order to encourage higher-order thinking in students, the teacher uses the models that describe the dimension of thinking in the classroom. What types of process or thinking skills involved in the models?
Discussion question
Level's of Bloom's taxonomy was renamed in three categories and interchange two of them. What are the differences between original and revision and what was the reason of changing?

1. How do emotions play an important role in the thinking process and how can teacher make a positive learning climate?
If people like what they are learning, they are more likely to maintain attention and interest and move to higher-level school. On the other hand, when they dislike the learning, they usually spend the least amount of time with it and stay at minimal level of processing. That’s why the classroom’s emotional climate is so important. If teacher can make students positive, they might not lose their attention and get more information while learning.
2. What is the representational system?
Sometimes, the word itself is not actually a something, but it brings forth many associations having to do with the something. This is an example of a representational system, and it illustrates the diversity of patterns in human thinking.
3. In order to encourage higher-order thinking in students, the teacher uses the models that describe the dimension of thinking in the classroom. What types of process or thinking skills involved in the models?
Basic processes which include observing, identifying conclusions based on patterns, forming conclusions based on patterns, and assessing conclusions based on observation, domain-specific knowledge and critical thinking and creative thinking. Metacognition is also needed.
Discussion question
Level's of Bloom's taxonomy was renamed in three categories and interchange two of them. What are the differences between original and revision and what was the reason of changing?
In original level, the original knowledge level was renamed remember, because it more accurately describes the recall process occurring at this level, and knowledge actually can be acquired at all levels. Comprehension changed to understand, because understand is more used commonly. Other 3 names changed to the verb form.
To apply these to classroom, teacher would be able to design class more carefully based on the thinking process of students. In classroom, teacher should bring variety of activities from lowest complexity process, remember to the highest level, create so that students can be reach higher thinking process. Additionally, classroom climates, teacher should carefully manage it so that make more helpful environment for students to help their efficiency goes up.

ReplyDelete1. How do emotions play an important role in the thinking process and how can teacher make a positive learning climate?
Emotion affects the thinking process; interrupting or helping thinking. When students have positive emotions, they can have more interest in many things. While, when they have neutral and negative emotion, their interest and thinking lessen.
Teachers can help students do activities using higher-order thinking, and the challengeable activities bring students positive emotions with interest.
2. What is the representational system?
When people think about something, they think others which are related to that one and it is an example of representational system. It describes the variety of human thinking process and it relates to multiple intelligences.
3. In order to encourage higher-order thinking in students, the teacher uses the models that describe the dimension of thinking in the classroom. What types of process or thinking skills involved in the models?
There are basic processes such as observing, finding patterns and generalizing, forming conclusions based on patterns, and assessing conclusions based on observations to encourage higher-order thinking in students. Also, domain-specific knowledge, critical thinking, creative thinking and metacognition can help students for higher-order thinking
Discussion question
Level's of Bloom's taxonomy was renamed in three categories and interchange two of them. What are the differences between original and revision and what was the reason of changing?
Application, Analysis and Evaluation were changed to verb form: Apply, Analyze and Evaluate because verb form fit the way they are used in learning objectives. Knowledge is renamed as Remember because it describes more accurately the recall process. Comprehension is also renamed as Understand because this term is used by teachers commonly. Synthesis is changed to Create because more complex thinking is needed in classroom recently.
Summary
The humans think in various ways and representational system is the instance or evidence of it. Thinking is affected by emotion, so positive emotions bring students more interest and help think critically, while negative emotions lessen the interest and critical thinking. Furthermore, there are two dimensions of thinking: lower-order thinking (convergent) and higher-order thinking (divergent). Some models are made to describe two dimensions such as Basic processes, Domain-specific knowledge and metacognition. To foster students’ higher-order thinking, Bloom’s Taxonomy is the effective model for teaching students. It had six levels of complexity of human thought: Knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation, but it is revised to Remember (recalling from memory and recognition of previously learned), Understand (making sense of the material), Apply (using learned material in new situations), Analyze (understanding the structure of material by breaking it into components), Evaluate (judging the value of material) and Create (combining parts to make new plan).
I don't know why my comments are deleted, but three times, and I remember all the things.
ReplyDelete1. Emotion can affcet by encouraging or interrupting it. Therefore teachers make learners feel like being good at thinking and give them neutral topic.
2. It means that thinking has ability to reason, process the clue and make it.
3. Observing, finding patterns and generalizing, forming conlusions based on patterns, assessing conclusions based on observations.
Discussion : Revised version is more fit in CLT. because it highlights output more thank input, it can be useful for learners to be exposed in language.
High....synthesis: united
taxonomy : category
tangible: possible
metacognition: thinkking in an distant and looking whole process os thinking
conversant: familiar
appraise: assess
